Dear Parents and/or Guardians:

  Halloween Information

The magic and excitement of Halloween is quickly upon us.  In order to make things clear, the following guidelines need to be followed for our Friday, October 31,st  parties:

  Times:

·        The morning kindergartners will have their parties from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

·        The afternoon classroom celebrations will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.   We need to abide by these times so that we can prepare the students for dismissal.  As is the practice all day long, the front driveway needs to remain for buses only.

 Parades:

·        Families may view the parade from outside, weather permitting. If it rains, parent viewing of the parade will occur in the gym.

·        Parade time for morning kindergarten is 9:15.  The 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade and afternoon kindergarten students will parade at 12:45 p.m.

Costumes:   We all enjoy seeing the children's interesting costumes.  Please limit the disguises to costumes and make-up.  Children should not come in footwear that makes walking difficult or hazardous.

·        Any simple make-up and hair spray should be applied at home.

·        Fake spears, knives, guns or other costume accessories are NOT allowed.

·        Hair can be dyed at home.

·        Costumes are NOT to be worn to school.  Please bring costumes in a bag labeled with the child's name.

·        Masks restricts the student's ability to see and can cause accidents.  As such, they will wear them only during the parade.

 Treats:

·        Please do not send in treat bags as all treats need to be sorted before they will go home.

·        All treats sent to school are to be selected from the Approved Party List.

·        All treats will be put into bags at school by the volunteers.

 Parent Participation:

·        According to the District 135 Safe Schools initiative, only room parents assigned to Halloween parties will be allowed in the classrooms.  They will assist with the party and dressing the children.

·        Volunteers will check in at the office and pick up their special badges.

·        Volunteers can arrive no sooner than 9:00 for the morning party or 12:15 for the afternoon party.

Following these rules can help your child enjoy two Halloweens – the dress rehearsal at school and the real thing later.  It will also keep all our students safer and healthier at school.

Sincerely,

Lynn Zeder, Principal
