Bio

Thank you for visiting my website!  My name is Beth Hayden, and I will be your child's language arts/literature teacher for sixth grade.  This is my ninth year teaching at Century Junior High, and I have enjoyed every minute!

I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2002.  Since then, I have received a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership and  my Administrative Certificate from St. Xavier University.  I believe that continuing my education allows me to further expand my knowledge of the best practices for my students.

In and out of the classroom, I am an avid reader and enjoy writing.  My goal is to inspire my students to have the same enthusiasm!

Reading Passports
Students are required to independently read three books per quarter.  At the beginning of the school year, students are given a Reading Passport that needs to be filled out and signed by a parent, ready to be handed in on the provided due dates.  Extra Passports and due dates can also be accessed through these links.  There is a grading penalty for not having the original Reading Passport.  This is a schoolwide independent reading program and will account for 10% of your child's literature grade.
