Independent Reading:
Students are expected to read 3 books and do 1 book report each quarter. The due date for this will be on the board for students to copy in their assignment notebook. AR tests must be passed with 80 % accuracy. Students should read for at least 20 minutes each night.
Endangered Animal Unit:
During the second quarter, we will be studying endangered animals. As a part of this unit, students will be doing research in the library on a particular assigned animal. They will be taking notes and organizing them into an expository essay. In December, they will have a project to do for homework on their animal which should be fun. More information will be coming to you about this interesting unit!
Illinois Unit in Social Studies:
In social studies, we will be studying our own state of Illinois! Children will be learning many interesting facts about Illinois, including the geography, economy, and history of our state. We will be inviting a representative from the Cook County Farm Bureau to visit our classroom, and explain to us about farming and "agribusiness" in the Midwest.
Fourth Grade is Great!
