High Point School is a Sea of Success

Welcome to 4th Grade!

It is so hard to believe that this is our last newsletter of 4th grade. It has been an absolute delight teaching your children!

I am so proud of the students' hard work on the MAP Test. They were so excited to see how much they have improved since the beginning of the year. We will also be reviewing the goal setting sheet we filled out at the beginning of the year. I know they will be so happy that they have met their goals. It has been interesting to see that for many of the students their area for improvement has actually turned into their strongest area, what an accomplishment!

We will be saying goodbye to Ms. Koch on May 4th, the students really enjoyed having a student teacher and we wish her the best of luck.

In about two weeks or so I will be sending home a survey asking for your thoughts on how your child's year in 4th grade went. I would really appreciate your open and honest feedback!

Our end of the year picnic is going to be May 24th from 12:45 – 2:10. As usual you everyone is welcome to join us!
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. The children succeed by us working together!

Homework Policy

There will be homework every night. In fourth grade, the average student can expect between 30-45 minutes of homework per night. If you have concerns about the time your child is spending doing homework, please contact me. I understand that things come up and it may not be possible to complete a homework assignment on a certain night, in that case please write me a note and the student will get an extra day to complete the assignment.

Homework is due first thing in the morning. If it is not completed when your child arrives at school, it is considered a late assignment. If an assignment is late, or missing, the student will be issued a ""Missing Assignment Notice."" This notice must be signed by a parent and returned the following school day with the completed assignment. If I feel that late or missing assignments are becoming a recurring problem, I will require that the assignment notebook be checked and signed by a parent every night.

If you know your child is going to be absent please inform me so I can give them their homework ahead of time. When a student is absent from school, he/she has two days to make up their work for every one day absent. This is a district policy.
