Accelerated Reader
Every student is expected to read 1 Accelerated Reader book for 1st quarter, and two for quarters 2-3-4.  Books should be at the students' independent reading levels.  Students must earn an 70% or above for accuracy in order to pass a test.  (NOTE:  Of course, students are encouraged to challenge themselves and take more  AR tests per quarter!  I highly recommend it!)

Independent Reading
Independent reading completed at home each night is highly reccommended!  I would appreciate at least 15 minutes per evening.  This reading may consist of any Accelerated Reader book your child is reading.  It may also be any type of recreational reading as well (newspapers, magazines, comic books, etc.)  The sole purpose of this activity is to encourage the
LOVE of READING!!!

Postcard Project!
The challenge is to receive postcards from all 50 states!  We will be working with Mrs. Rein's class to complete this challenge!!  Postcards must be mailed to us at school or to your home.   This is a terrific way to get friends, family members and even coworkers involved in some fun!!!  Students can even go online to any search engine (such as www.dogpile.com) and type in (state name) bureau of tourism and request a FREE brochure (I will count this as valid correspondence).  Duplicate correspondence is welcome!  We will be comparing data to see which states have the most and least mail at the end of the year!
