Children who practice at home generally make quicker progress in speech. Below are some suggestions for speech and language practice.
Speech Sound Practice
- See how many objects you can name that start with your speech sound.
- Draw a picture of an object that has your speech sound. Talk about your drawing.
- Talk with a parent or read aloud from a book. Have a listener help you focus on your speech sounds.
Language Practice
- Interview a parent or friend. Practice asking and answering "wh" questions.
- Help expand your student's vocabulary by labeling objects or talking about what you're doing when completing tasks.
- Work on vocabulary and following directions by completing a craft.
- Play and read together! Both are fun ways to practice language skills.
