The Application window has closed. New Board Advisory Members will be notified the week of September 19th.
Thank you to all who applied.
The Orland School District 135 Board of Education is seeking individuals to serve a 2-year term on one of three Board Advisory Committees.
The committees are as follows:
- Communications, Policy and Personnel
- Finance and Operations
- Teaching and Learning and Technology
Each committee, made up of Board members, D135 staff, parents, and community members, is designed to assist the Board in gathering information and feedback from various stakeholders. This valuable input allows the Board to gain an array of perspectives on various topics and assist in their decision-making process. While advisory committees do not vote on District matters, they do provide useful insight to Board members.
If you are interested in serving on one of the three committees for a 2-year term beginning in October 2022, please fill out this application from August 22 through September 4.
Once the application window has closed, a board-directed committee made up of board members, parents/community members, and staff members will review and score all applications based on a rubric. Identifying information will be removed from all applications prior to the scoring process. All applicants will be notified via email once the committee selection process is complete. Please note, based on the number of members on each committee and interest, everyone who applies may not be able to serve on a committee.
The scoring rubric for the application can be found on our website: https://www.orland135.org/Page/93
If selected, each committee member must complete a free online Open Meetings Act training, as well as The Illinois Association of School Boards committee training one evening in early October 2022, prior to attending their first committee meeting.
District 135 is excited to continue our partnership with the Orland community through these ongoing advisory committees!
