Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
FOIA requests provide an important means through which the public can obtain information regarding the activities of Orland School District 135. The District is required by law to respond to FOIA requests.

FOIA requests can be submitted to foiarequest@orland135.org. All FOIA requests must be made in writing. This form can assist in the FOIA request process.
FOIA requests will receive a response within 5 days of the submission and a $0.10 charge is incurred for each copy that is made within the FOIA fulfillment.

Local Elections
School Board elections take place every year that ends in an odd number (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027...). School Board members hold a four-year term.
Information on how to run for the school board and other local elections can be found on the Cook County Clerk's website.
In accordance with changes to the Election Code in 2014 (10 ILCS 5/1-1 et seq.), prospective school board candidates will no longer file nominating petitions with the school district. Petitions must be filed with the Cook County Clerk's Office. Please contact The Cook County Clerk's Office at (312) 603-1127 for further election-related information.

Public Meetings
Orland School District holds open meetings every month with the Board of Education: the Committee of the Whole and the Regular Board Meeting. Community members are invited to both meetings, which allow for public comment. The District also has Board Advisory Committees that meet on a regular basis that have opportunities for public comment as well.
