High Math (4th and 5th Grade)

High Math (4th and 5th grade only)

At grades 4 and 5, students who demonstrate high math achievement  and behaviors are identified for differentiated math programming which takes place in a self-contained regular education class.  Students identified for this class are grouped based on their need for a deeper exploration of grade level standards. High math classes DO NOT skip grade level standards.

Identification for this class is based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstration of consistently high math achievement through NWEA-MAP assessments

  • PARCC assessment results

  • Demonstration of higher order math behaviors as measured by a Teacher Checklist of Observed Math Behaviors

Discussions regarding high math placement should be had with the building principal.
