HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

A hot lunch with milk is provided on regular school days for those families who wish to purchase the lunch. Fees for the 2019-20 year are the following:

    Student lunch, including milk       $3.50

    Reduced student lunch                $1.25

    Student milk                                 $0.60

    Adult lunch                                   $5.25

Students may pay for lunches or milk on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis. Checks should be made payable to “School District 135”, and all monies should be sent in a sealed envelope labeled with the child’s name and teacher name.  Menus are sent home with students each month. If you have any questions regarding the payment procedure, please call Ann O'Callaghan at 364-3243, who is the kitchen supervisor at Center School, or the district’s Quest representative, at 364-3366.

    LUNCHES FROM HOME

If your child brings lunch to school, please abide by the following parameters:

    1. Reusable lunch bags/boxes should be labeled with your child’s first and last name.
    2. Only send items in plastic containers; glass is not allowed. In addition, send food in containers that the child can open by him or herself.
    3. Send the appropriate amount of food that your child can eat within fifteen minutes. The remainder of the lunch period is used for recess.  If your child forgets his or her lunch, we will provide one that can be paid for the next day.

You are welcome and encouraged to join your child for lunch on his or her birthday and when he or she is being recognized as student of the week. However, we do ask you to follow these procedures:

    1. Check in at the office and obtain a visitor pass.
    2. You and you child may sit at the visitor table in the cafeteria.
    3. You are welcome to remain for the lunch, but not the recess.
    4. If you would like to order a school lunch for yourself, please call the office by 8:30 a.m.
    5. You may only provide lunch for your child.
    6. There will be no decorations, gifts, or balloons allowed into the lunchroom.

While it is preferred that pre-school age siblings do not accompany you, we know that is not always possible. Therefore, pre-school age children must sit with you at the visitor table. Safety for all is always our top priority. However, if space or safety becomes an issue, these procedures may change.
