Welcome to the Prairie School Library!
Librarian: Leanne Brown
Instructional Technology Assistant: Kathy Pustz
Hello, my name is Leanne Brown, and I am thrilled to be working with the students of Prairie School this year! This is my 13th year in Orland School District 135, and my 5th year as librarian at Prairie School. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Xavier University and a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My passions are reading (of course!), spending time with my family, and Tae Kwon Do. I regularly visit Anderson's Bookstores to meet authors and illustrators that I admire and get signed copies of their books! I hope to be a published children's author someday.
The primary goal of the Prairie Library is to foster a love of reading and impress upon young readers that the library is a vital place in every community.
As J.K. Rowling said, "When in doubt, go to the library."

About the Library
Orland School District 135 shares the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) Mission Statement in that we are building a community of critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical, effective users of ideas and information.
The Library Media Center serves as the information hub of the school. Its purpose is to provide opportunities for students to become critical seekers of information, users of media in all formats, and independent, lifelong learners.
The Library Media Program has three components: Literature Appreciation, Library Skills, and Resource Based Learning.
