School Bus Transition Information
Nearly 4,000 students are transported to and from school using District 135’s bus service every day. 90% of those bus routes have been on time over the past week, but we know that there is still a lot of work to do. We want to assure every family with children in District 135 that we have been very proactive in correcting the problems of the last two weeks quickly and decisively.
We are currently working with American Bus Company (ABC) to roll out the routes that they will be taking over beginning Tuesday, September 8th. ABC drivers are out practicing the initial routes that they will take over to ensure an efficient transition. While we hope to alleviate most of the timing issues with the addition of these buses and drivers, we know that there may be lingering issues. We are working consistently to resolve the transportation concerns.
Please know that we are staying focused, and we will not stop until every problem is resolved. On Tuesday, ABC will begin with 10 routes to alleviate critical route concerns. They will add up to an additional 20 routes once they have sufficient time to evaluate and practice these runs due to the national holiday weekend.
The following routes are the first that ABC will be taking over, beginning next Tuesday:
ABC AM Routes: Please note, the PM route will be an STA bus.
ABC PM Routes: Please note, the AM route will be an STA bus.
ABC AM and PM route:
The routes listed above are not the only routes that will be positively affected by this transition. The additional routes and drivers will assist Student Transportation of America (STA) to run the routes they are maintaining more efficiently.
Please remember that this is only the beginning, and we will continue to transition as ABC has time to implement the additional routes.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make improvements to our transportation service.
