ISBE Those Who Excel Awards

Kedz Rehm Sendra

Joe Sendra, Donna Rehm, Michelle Kedzierski and the District Technology Team were nominated by administrators to receive Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Those Who Excel education awards.  These awards are meant to “honor individuals who have made significant contributions to our state's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools,” according to the ISBE website.

Kedzierski, a reading teacher at OJH said, “Working in Orland 135 is one of the great joys of my life. Sharing my passion for connected learning with children in my home community is such a privilege and blessing. To receive an Award of Merit was an unexpected delight for which I am very grateful.”

Rehm, who was nominated for her service as a school nurse at High Point, said, “As a school nurse, I am challenged every day to support the physical, emotional and social needs of students so that they may be successful in the learning environment. Students need to be healthy in order to learn. I am grateful that I have been able to serve the students and families of Orland School District 135 as their school nurse and hope to continue to make a difference in the lives of our school community.”

Nominations are taken for several different categories, including administrators, classroom teachers, student support personnel and teams, among many others.  Those Who Excel education awards recipients will be recognized at a banquet in Bloomington-Normal on October 17th.  Each of the District’s four nominees will receive the Award of Merit at the banquet.
