Over the past six years, the Village of Orland Park has participated in the 21st Century Institute’s professional public affairs exchange program from China. On Thursday, December 3rd, delegates from the exchange program visited High Point School and got to interact with students in a variety of settings. The delegates experienced a physical education class and an art class. They were also able to sit in on several classroom activities using the newly implemented 1:1 iPad technology, where the students demonstrated their electronic portfolios, review games and collaboration activities using mobile education apps.
High Point students greeted the delegates as they entered the school, and were friendly and welcoming throughout the visit. Throughout the day, the delegates interacted with the children and asked many questions. The delegates were able to see many examples of how 21st Century Learning skills were being implemented into the learning environment. These skills include communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. They even assisted High Point students with an art project and a STEM challenge assignment!
At the conclusion of the visit, school and District administrators joined the delegates for lunch in the music room while several students performed a brief holiday concert. For more photos, visit our Facebook page!
