2018-2019 Illinois Report Card

Dear District 135 community,

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released our annual School Report Card this week. The Report Card shows how well our schools are progressing on a wide range of educational goals. We are extremely proud of each of our schools, our staff, and the progress our students have made in all areas of growth.

One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation – a descriptor of how well the school is meeting the needs of all students. This designation is based on eight indicators of academic success and school quality. District 135 is happy to announce that three of our schools have received ‘Exemplary’ status, and seven of our schools have received ‘Commendable’ status. Schools receiving the “Exemplary” status demonstrated performance in the top 10% of the state.

This year 40% of our schools received a higher summative designation than the previous year. In addition, all of the schools demonstrated tremendous growth from the previous school year.

Centennial - Commendable
Center - Exemplary
Century Junior High - Commendable
High Point - Commendable
Jerling Junior High - Commendable
Liberty - Exemplary
Meadow Ridge - Exemplary
Orland Junior High - Commendable
Park - Commendable
Prairie - Commendable

Collectively, district and building administration focused professional development this past year in the following areas: the implementation of standards-based learning with increased rigor for all students, a strong Response to Intervention plan, the support of our English language learning program, and an increase in co-teaching opportunities between general education and special education.

Administration and teachers will dive into the data provided on the School Report Card to make additional improvements to programming to continue to improve our schools. By winter break, all schools will have completed the Illinois Quality Framework Rubric as defined by ISBE to ensure consistency in using a research-based framework to set school improvement goals.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we ensure that all of our students have the best educational experience during their time in District 135.
