2021-2022 Summative Designations

On Thursday, October 27th, the Illinois State Board of Education released school report cards, which share district and school data for all schools within the state. The Report Card shows how well our schools are progressing on a wide range of educational goals. The data provided in The Report Card give us the opportunity to reflect on our strengths and areas for growth and to further strengthen instruction and support for our entire student community.

Illinois School Report Cards provide a range of information on schools including students’ proficiency and growth on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness in English Language Arts and Math, the Illinois Science Assessment, attendance data, progress of English Language Learners, and the 5 Essentials Survey. Based on eight indicators of academic performance from the 2021-2022 school year, the Illinois State Board of Education classifies all schools in one of four designations: Exemplary, Commendable, Targeted Support, and Comprehensive Support.

Orland School District 135 is proud to announce that all 10 schools were identified in the top two designations for the 2021-2022 school year! Centennial, Center, Century, Jerling, Liberty, Orland Jr High, Park and Prairie were all identified as Commendable with Centennial, Liberty, Park and Prairie being on the cusp of receiving an Exemplary designation. High Point and Meadow Ridge were identified as Exemplary, which means those two schools rank in the top 10% of all schools in Illinois!  Only 10 schools in the entire South Suburban Cook County Region received exemplary designations, District 135 being home to two of those ten exemplary schools!

Exemplary and Commendable schools all have higher levels of proficiency and growth for all student groups, as categorized by the Illinois State Board of Education.

These achievements showcase all of the dedication of our staff in providing high levels of instruction in all content areas, differentiated small group instruction, collaborative learning, STEM, music, and art opportunities, along with supporting the whole child through physical and social-emotional wellness to help students continue to grow, learn, and become well rounded students. We are very proud of all of our students, staff, and administrators for the work they continue to do every day and we appreciate the continuous partnership with our Orland 135 families!

Thank you to our staff, families, administrators, and school board members for supporting the growth and success of our students!
